Palatka, FL—Babbitt’s Online/Monster Energy®/Kawasaki Team Green™ riders returned to GNCC racing over the weekend at the second round of the series in the sands of Palatka, Florida. The only sand race on the series schedule always challenges the riders, and this year was no different, with high temperatures and a 14-mile track for the Kawasaki-mounted racers to contend with. However, after nearly three hours of racing as the defending XC2 champion, Lyndon Snodgrass was able to battle his way to a podium finish, with fellow XC1 team-mates Josh Strang and Grant Baylor finishing inside the top ten in class.
After a bad start that left the KX™250X mounted by Snodgrass on the ground in the first corner with a damaged hydration system, the Australian would meticulously pick his way through the field over the course of the five-lap race to come across the finish line in third place in XC2, and eighth overall. On his race, Snodgrass said, "Today was tough; I went down in the first corner again for the second year in a row, just tried picking them off one by one, and was able to get into third on the last lap. Happy to be on the podium and looking forward to Georgia next weekend."
XC1 racers Josh Strang and Grant Baylor would also have subpar starts to kick off their race, which would see both riders entering the woods at the rear of the pack and being forced to play catch up all day just like their XC2 teammate. Nonetheless, both KX™450X racers would eventually work their way into a top-ten position in their class by the end of the race. The No. 314 of Grant Baylor would end up taking a sixth-place finish, with the No. 17 of Josh Strang coming across the line in ninth-place.
The Babbitt’s Online/Monster Energy®/Kawasaki Team Green™ have a week to recover from their efforts before they are back between the arrows for more GNCC racing at the Aonia Pass MX track in Washington, GA, for round three of the series.
