Union, SC—Babbitt’s Online/Monster Energy®/Kawasaki Team Green™ was back to racing this weekend in the sands of Society Hill, South Carolina, for the fifth round of the 2023 Grand National Cross Country Series, where the No. 314 of Grant Baylor would take a big win and his first aboard his Kawasaki KX™450X™. XC1 teammate Josh Strang would ride a solid race to take home a top-five finish, while XC2 pilot Lyndon Snodgrass would struggle to find his form coming into the finish in the 13th position in the class.
After a lackluster start, the South Carolina native Baylor would complete lap one in the seventh place position before moving to sixth on lap 2. At the one-hour mark in the race however, Grant found his groove and was able to charge up to the second place position before taking over the lead on lap five, where he stayed until the end of the seven-lap race.
Grant on his day: "It was a good day; I didn’t get the best of starts but was able to make my way through the pack a little easier since the track was a little wider. Once I got into second, I was able to relax a bit before the leader made a mistake, and from there I just tried to manage the lead until the finish."
Team Babbitt’s/Monster Energy/Kawasaki veteran Josh Strang would also suffer from a bad start, forcing him to chip away at his competitors over the course of the three-hour event, eventually taking fifth place in XC1 and gaining valuable points in the process. Defending XC2 champion Lyndon Snodgrass would have an off day, finishing outside of the top ten.
The next GNCC will be in three weeks time at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on May 7th, where Team Babbitt’s/Monster Energy/Kawasaki look to build upon recent success.
