... I've modified Printrun for referencing the origin with a camera (could be a laserpointer-spot too) - it's like searching the workpiece-origin with the cam, setting this position as new X=0, Y=0 (Z=0) origin ... or switching back to center the camera on X,Y=0,0.

The positioning accuracy is 2.4 and 3.7 microns in X and Y, practical resolution is more like 10 microns, but much finer than needed for paste-dispensing.

Here a video, where I've tested the positioning with moving steps of 0.1mm, 1mm and 10mm:

After mid September I'll mount a laser module and venting and test, what accuracy/resolution is possible with laser-engraving ...

Hey Victor,

I know you are expert in DIY pcb with laser led and engraving.
I also know this isn't maybe the most appropriate forum topic so please take my appologies - but - I am doing some etching with laser diode PCB removing of adhesive film on bare pcb.

I have problems because I need to remove burned adhesive from pcb laminate or else HCL and H2O2 would not etch copper away.

May I ask exactly what kind of black spray are you using? There is image of my first etched PCB on following link -
https://goo.gl/photos/EnhQLDHY4hpR2Y1LA
I guess it is not so bad - but I want to escape of step of removing burned adhesive from pcb before I throw pcb in acid.

Can you suggest a spray? Have you some success with lignin color (I read that in reprap forum from your post there...)? I find sprays and colors difficult to work with because layer of spray/color could be unevenly distributed on pcb, and that could have bad consequences later when etching. From that point of view, adhesive foil seems better alternative - if only I could found thermally unstable adhesive foil so removal of adhesive would be easier?

Can you help?

... I've successfully used several different 'fast drying' colors - last time I used "BBQ-paint" ('Ofen-Farbe' in German), which is meant for painting hot parts and withstand high temps.

The spraying from 20cm distance with starting beside ond only 'sweeping' across the PCB is best for only a thin, homogenous film.

After engravin I'm cleaning the traces with some soap-water.

The tests with lignin was more for SLS and melting the lignin powder with an IR-diode ...

Thanks for info. Maybe you know is this acryl based or nitro based color?
Is this important?
I think organic colors are more succeptible to ir light.
For anorganic i think I would need uv laser diode.

AFAIK this were both types - the amount of absorbing (dark) pigments is of much more influence than the base.

Some black colors were merely transparent, when inspected with a microscope - this colors do need much more power than more 'dense' ones.

The last PCB's were engraved with a 445nm-2Watt-diode instead of a 975nm-9W-diode - better engraving/removing for higher energy density, but finer trace too (0.05mm with blue, 0.1mm best with the IR-diode), so sometimes I had to draw two lines parallel in 0.03mm distance to get the needed 0.1mm isolation trace width, while with the IR-diode the trace width with one pass was 0.12mm to 0.2mm depending on the focus distance ...

... now 3 of the dispensers are up and running - one in my basement, another in the company and a 'demonstrator' for the dispenser manufacturer.

Tomorrow we're driving to Munich and finishing the booth ... the fair goes then from tuesday to friday ...

Here a video where I've dispensed blue coloured hand cream on the logo of my busines-card ;)

... this is the result - not so perfect aligned, as I don't have position marks or notches on the table yet ...
