Newton 3D - Desktop Metal Printing!

Postby Jethro » Thu Dec 19, 2013 8:44 pm

Newton 3D, based in England, have unveiled a desktop metal clay printer! This looks to be direct competition to the Mini Metal Maker.

Here is their official website: http://newton3d.com/

Below are some machine specifications...

- desktop metal 3D printer working with non proprietary metal clay including steel, bronze, gold, silver, etc.
- standard resolution of up to 400 micron,
- build volume: ~5in x ~5in x ~2in.

"The system itself can move at 2000mm/min, but with metal we prefer to keep it at 300mm/min."

3ders.org ran a nice article on the development... http://www.3ders.org/articles/20131219- ... inter.html

Below are some videos of their printer in action...

Pretty cool!

There are many ways of doing sublimation on metal. It also can be tried in metal printing. It will bring good results too.

Hi Charles! A major welcome to the group! :)

I had never before heard of Sublimation 'Powder coating', it sounds interesting... even looking at it as a post processing application, the raw printed metal parts could be coated in all manner of things to produce a real intricate part with a fantastic finish!

Just sent a message to Newton3D asking for an update on their progress. If they don't respond directly here on the forums will post the response...
