A 2023 ORV PASS:
Michigan ORV licenses and trail permits give riders access to 4,000 miles of state-designated ORV trails and scramble areas, eligible county and national forest roads, state forest roads that are open to ORV use and more, according to the DNR.
An ORV license is required to ride eligible county roads, frozen surface of public waters, state forest roads and eligible national forest roads; the cost is $26.25. An additional ORV trail permit, which is $10, is required on top of the ORV license when operating on state-designated ORV trails and scramble areas. Each license is valid for one year, beginning April 1 and ending March 31 of the following year. Pick one up in our parts department!
A Dune Flag and Mount:
A safety flag must be mounted and secured to your vehicle at the following position:
Sit-In-Automotive style seating, flag mount to the front-most portion of the vehicle.
Sit-On/Straddle style seating (steered by handlebars), flag mounts to the rear of the vehicle.
All flags must be 10' off the ground when mounted at standstill (8' under motion) color-safety orange, rectangular shape, solid material.
Safety Gear:
If you're riding a dirt bike, ATV or motorcycle of any kind, you must also have a spark arrestor, helmet and eye protection. Safety for you and our environment! For obvious reasons you must wear a helmet and eye protection on the dunes to protect yourself during an accident and from all the sand getting in your eyes.
A spark arrester is a mechanical device that traps or destroys hot exhaust particles expelled from an internal combustion engine. Babbitt's parts department carries a wide variety and sizes of helmets and goggles. We can also order the correct spark arrester for your vehicle.
